About Langdon Community collaborative

values

  The Langdon Community Collaborative functions under the following values:

Shared Vision & United Purpose 

The collaboration is committed to working together on common goals, as identified by the collaboration, consistently and effectively, providing information to all involved, to successfully achieve our vision.

Respect 

Collaboration members will respect any and all viewpoints; all members are encouraged to listen and share ideas with open minds.

Working Together 

The collaboration is committed to working together as a trusted team, sharing the workload assisting each other as necessary.  

Inclusiveness 

We come together to develop a shared vision and common goals.

Transparency 

The collaboration will openly communicate with others in a clear and concise manner through various formats (i.e. Website, Facebook etc.).

Accountability 

Being accountable to both the collaboration and the community progress shall be tracked and shared frequently, showing accomplishments and what the next steps are to garner community support.

    We will approach government leaders with a cohesive plan for productive, two-way dialogue related to our goals and vision.

· Develop and maintain model to work with County. Reintroduce formal meetings that take place on a regular basis.

· Prioritize list of community’s needs

· Build and maintain relationships with MLAs and Councilors after elections

· Speak with one voice

· Works through P3 policies to use with local P3 Schools and RVS Schools for meeting spaces and youth workshops and parenting seminars

· Develop and further build community buy-in, RVC Administration approval

We will work with County municipal planning on the Area Structure Plan process and the Recreation Master Plan to develop the community as it relates to our goals and vision.

· Get involved in County master plans and assessments ie. Recreation Master Plan or Social Needs Assessment

· Secure/Build more green space

· Work with and continue [to maintain relationships] with the development community

We will build multiple facilities and amenities in Langdon for community health and wellbeing.

· Work with Rocky View County to build, maintain and community operational governance and/or oversight of a recreation facility that meets the needs of all ages and demographics in Division 7

· Large, indoor facility – Multi-sport

· Over time build more multi functional facilities – including theatre

· Development of property at Joint Use Site with stakeholders playing a large roll 

· More recreational space

We will secure funds to achieve our goals of increased programming, current facility improvements and new facility development.

· Continuous review of governance model between nonprofit groups to ensure all needs are met for recreation facility development.

· Continuous update and review of Fundraising plan and Business plan

· Research and plot grants on timeline to coordinate applications

· Initiate and complete major fundraising activities

We will enhance existing amenities Facility improvements – fields, facilities, other

· Helping build up phase 2, 3, and 4 of Quad Diamonds

· Upgrades to Outdoor Rink

· Advocating for paved parking lot

· Increase accessibility of Qualico Resource Centre

We will increase programming and opportunities for all ages and stages.

· Community partnerships and collaboration

· Support new organizations and groups to add new programming

· Local programs and supports for children, youth and families

· Local programs and supports for adults

· Local programs and support for seniors

· Opportunities for kids to be part of theatre group – need storage, space

· Access to all schools in Langdon. Improve reciprocal agreements with all major players

We will foster community leadership development.

· Increase volunteer capacity

· Plan for succession. Improve retention and sustainability of volunteers by offering professional development and education sessions a minimum of 2 times/year.

· Work together to reach goals such as projects/events/fundraising

· Increase membership of the Langdon Community Collaborative through outreach and advocacy

· Promote benefits of being a member of the Langdon Community Collaborative

We will communicate openly to achieve our objectives and increase awareness.

· Obtain community buy-in; Open houses, share information and educate

· Obtain buy-in / support from other communities – Carseland, Strathmore, Cheadle, Chestermere, Indus, Springbank, and other Rocky View County communities

· Connect with multi-sport organizations and recreation groups

· Increase communication of events

Roles and Responsibilities

  · An impartial facilitator will be assigned to facilitate LCC meetings. The role of scribe maybe rotated among LCC members and/or be part of the facilitator’s role. The scribe and/or facilitator will record all meeting notes and send to facilitator for distribution within one week of meeting date. 

Membership

· Our Collaboration will be comprised of representatives from any nonprofit organization working within the Langdon boundary area that are committed to the mission, vision, and values of the Langdon Community Collaboration. 

· A core team will be established for the purposes of setting meeting agendas and for representing the LCC at events as deemed appropriate.  The core team will be composed of:

o LCC Facilitator

o LCA Representative nominated by the LCA (focus on improving current facilities)

o 1 Additional Member at as per Membership. Additional Member must have at least 2 years experience as an active member with a Langdon nonprofit organization. Candidates will give a short 2 minute talk sharing why they want to take on the role. Members will vote anonymously for Additional Member.

· Core Team representatives will hold this role for one year, starting in January of each year. Representatives have the option to renew their position annually. Review of Core Team Representatives will take place in November of each year.

· A Communications committee will focus on community engagement events, manage LCC website and email address, and any other activity related to communication with Langdon and area residents. 

· Additional sub-committees will be formed on an ad hoc basis as deemed appropriate by the LCC. 

Mutual Expectations

  · Actions of all members of the LCC will be guided by our six values. 

· In addition, we have the following mutual expectation:

o LCC members will strive to provide immediate feedback at LCC meetings. However, if response from an organization’s membership is required, a deadline will be set by which a response will be provided to the LCC by the aforementioned organization’s LCC representative.

Operating Procedures

· Meetings will be held monthly from September through to June, unless otherwise decided by the LCC members. 

· Members of the LCC may submit items to be included on the agenda one week prior to the next scheduled meeting. Requests are to be submitted to the Facilitator and Core Team members by email.

· LCC may hold meetings from June through to September as needed.

· The LCC will use an ongoing action plan list to maintain momentum from one meeting to the next.
